For the first time ever visitors to the Malvern Autumn Show will be able to gin-dulge themselves with some of the finest spirits from the Three Counties region.
People will be getting into the spirit of things at the inaugural Malvern Gin Show where they will have the opportunity to sample a wide range of drinks from local and surrounding gin distilleries, the gins themselves will be going head to head in a competition to find out which is the people’s favourite.
The event runs all weekend, September 28 and 29, and showcases all the weird and wonderful gins on offer, everything from asparagus to flavoursome fruit and of course the traditional London Dry.
It’s the first time gin producers will be able to compete in classes at the show, sponsored by Waitrose and Partners, including Product Presentation, Classic Gin, Flavoured Gin, Contemporary Gin and the People’s Choice Competition, voted for by visitors.
Just some of the confirmed distilleries at the show include Hussingtree Gin from Worcestershire, Brennan and Brown from Gloucestershire and Haven Distillery from Herefordshire.
The competition classes will be judged by show regular Mark Diacono, along with Micheal Pearson and Peta Darnley whilst the People’s Choice awards, the best gin voted for by visitors across the weekend, will be presented by special guest, BBC weather personality Carol Kirkwood.
Hosted in its very own marquee, the Malvern Gin Show will also feature a brand new Gin Pod Theatre to host to gintastic talks and for visitors to get inspiration for recipe ideas.
“The Malvern Gin Show is a new addition and we’re all rather excited about it,” said Richard Heath, show executive responsible for the new classes.
“We have a rich selection of distilleries which are local to the Three Counties, and what better way to celebrate than to hold a series of classes, and of course give our visitors ample opportunity to do some tasting.”
There will be a wide array of gin for visitors to sample, taste, and of course purchase for an early Christmas present.
Run in association with Westons Cider Mill the Malvern Autumn Show with over 65,000 people expected to attend the two-day celebration right in the heart of the beautiful British countryside.
