In the early 1980s, a revolutionary group of fashion designers emerged from Antwerp, Belgium, all of whom were graduates of the prestigious Royal Academy of Fine Arts. Under the guidance of renowned professor Linda Loppa, these six designers honed their craft and eventually gained international recognition for their avant-garde styles and innovative approach to design. In celebration of 40+ Years of Stijl, the hotel has partnered with the Musée Mode & Dentelle to offer exclusive (after-hours) private access to the landmark retrospective exhibition, running from the 18th of April until the 11th of January, 2026.
This one-of-a-kind exhibition tells the story of how Brussels’ Dansaert district became a global fashion hub. In the 1980s, visionary fashion pioneers began establishing themselves in this now-iconic neighbourhood. At the heart of it all stood Sonja Noël, founder of the STIJL boutique. Under her creative direction, Dansaert transformed into a symbol of style and innovation, firmly placing Belgian fashion on the international stage. For over 40 years, Noël has bridged the gap between high-concept design and everyday elegance, shaping not only a boutique but a cultural movement.
Available exclusively through Hotel Amigo, this cultural journey highlights the hotel’s commitment to celebrating Belgian creativity and elegance and its vibrant ties to fashion, art, and design. “Our guests are curious, stylish, and globally minded,” said Carlo Ferrigno, Director of operations. “This partnership allows them to discover an often-overlooked yet incredibly influential chapter in fashion history—right from the soul of Brussels.” End the experience with a selection from the Signature Cocktail Menu, created by Salvatore Calabrese, globally renowned as the world’s most famous mixologist. Choose from 10 signature cocktails, each inspired by Magritte’s paintings, whether through texture, flavour, or the shape of the glass.
