The Kimpton in Madrid is expected to open in mid-2030

IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced plans to open the first Kimpton hotel in the Spanish capital. The property will be developed in partnership with El Corte Inglés and is expected to open in mid-2030. The signing marks another milestone for the boutique luxury brand’s growth in Spain. Kimpton already operates hotels in Barcelona, Mallorca and Marbella.

The new opening further strengthens Madrid’s position as one of Europe’s most sought-after luxury travel destinations.

A Prime Address in the Spanish Capital

The future hotel will occupy an iconic heritage building on Goya Street in the prestigious Barrio Salamanca district. Known for its elegant architecture, designer boutiques and fine dining restaurants, Barrio Salamanca is one of Madrid’s most exclusive neighbourhoods. The location places guests within easy reach of the city’s leading cultural attractions, luxury shopping streets and vibrant culinary scene.

Boutique Luxury with a Local Perspective

The 106-room property will reflect Kimpton’s signature approach to hospitality. Guests can expect design-led interiors, personalised service and experiences inspired by local culture. The hotel will feature a ground-floor restaurant, spa and indoor swimming pool. A rooftop bar and restaurant will provide panoramic views across Madrid’s skyline and historic rooftops.

Kimpton is known for creating hotels that feel deeply connected to their surroundings. The Madrid property will continue that philosophy through carefully curated design and food and beverage experiences.

Madrid’s Tourism Boom Continues

The announcement comes at a time of significant growth for Madrid’s tourism sector. International visitor spending reached a record €17.9 billion in 2025, according to Spain’s National Institute of Statistics. That figure represents an 11 per cent increase year-on-year and a 71 per cent rise compared with 2019.

As demand for luxury travel continues to grow, international hotel brands are increasingly investing in the Spanish capital. The arrival of Kimpton reflects confidence in Madrid’s long-term appeal among both leisure and business travellers.

Expanding Across Spain

For IHG Hotels & Resorts, the project forms part of a wider expansion strategy across Europe. Spain remains one of the company’s key growth markets. The country continues to attract strong investment thanks to its thriving tourism industry and year-round appeal. The Madrid opening will strengthen Kimpton’s presence in Spain while introducing the brand’s distinctive style to a new audience. For travellers seeking boutique luxury with a strong sense of place, Kimpton Madrid promises to become one of the city’s most anticipated hotel openings.

Looking Ahead

While guests will need to wait until 2030 to check in, anticipation is already building. With its prime location, heritage setting and rooftop views across the Spanish capital, Kimpton Madrid is poised to become a standout addition to the city’s luxury hospitality landscape.
