Opening September 2019 – Early Bird Rate of £123 per night
Bookings for The Hoxton, Southwark are now open and to celebrate there is an exclusive early bird deal offering rooms for £123/night for bookings before the 22nd June 2019.
Opening its doors in early September, The Hoxton, Southwark comes as the eighth property in The Hoxton series, and sees the brand back on familiar ground, launching its third hotel in its home city. The Hoxton first opened its doors in Shoreditch in 2006, followed by Holborn in 2012, and has since been rolled out globally, with creatively designed open-house hotels in neighbourhoods around the world including Paris, Amsterdam, New York, Portland, and most recently, Chicago. The Hoxton, Downtown LA will follow later this summer.
A 14-storey new build property, The Hoxton, Southwark is located on the south side of Blackfriars Bridge, a stone’s throw from the River Thames. The area has a rich history and was a thriving trading hub for London through the industrial revolution. Today, the former factories have been converted into galleries, bars and restaurants, and the neighbourhood is home to some of the city’s best galleries, museums, theatres and food markets London has to offer.
The 192 rooms come in five categories: Shoebox, Snug, Cosy, Roomy and Biggy. Industrial features, such as Crittall-style windows, concrete ceilings and bare brick walls contrast to luxurious touches including panelled headboards, leather lounge chairs and handmade glassware — a nod to the glass-blowing and tannery factories that once occupied the area. The usual Hox Perks come as standard, including a mini fridge for you to stock from the reception shop with local products at supermarket prices, and a free daily breakfast bag delivered to your door.
Ennismore Design Studio is responsible for the interiors throughout the hotel, with the open-plan communal spaces drawing inspiration from Southwark’s eclectic, industrial past. The history of the hops trade has inspired the botanical print fabrics, tiles and wallpaper, which feature throughout the lobby, Apartment and rooftop, whilst a mix of antique and bespoke furniture has been sourced from British makers.
The Hoxton, Southwark will boast multiple drinking and dining destinations, including a bright and airy rooftop restaurant with sprawling city views across the Thames and beyond. The ground floor restaurant will serve Mediterranean-inspired food and drinks, throughout the restaurant and lobby, from morning ‘til night.
The Apartment, the unique meeting and events space which features in every Hoxton hotel, will be located on the mezzanine, with six creatively rooms centered around a communal Pantry Kitchen and a wraparound balcony offering a little outdoor space.
Working From_, Ennismore’s new shared workspace concept will occupy six floors of the building, with its own dedicated entrance on Colombo Street. Developed as an extension of The Hoxton’s lobbies, which have been used by locals, freelancers and creatives since 2006, Working From_ brings all the comforts of working from home, but delivered with Hoxton hospitality. It will boast 744 desks, five meeting rooms, a wellness studio with daily classes, a winter garden, and quiet booths for making private calls. Local fitness partner, Refinery E9, will curate the programming in the wellness studio, running daily classes, and YCN will curate the member events programme designed to inspire and enrich professional development.
The hotel’s opening will be celebrated with a month-long events programme, that will showcase the good and the great in the neighbourhood, along with a limited-edition ‘Best of London’ retail collection, featuring products made in collaboration with some of London’s most exciting partners.
The Hox Friends programme will be rolled out at The Hoxton, Southwark, following its success across the rest of the portfolio. This initiative is designed to further connect with the community and bring local culture into the bedrooms for guests to enjoy and discover. 192 handpicked locals have each chosen a selection of books that will feature on the bookshelves of the 192 bedrooms. Hox Friends will be profiled on the dedicated Instagram page, @hoxfriends, which acts as an insider guide for guests to help facilitate discovery of the Hoxton’s neighbourhoods.
