IHG Opens Flagship Garner Hotel in Edinburgh Ahead of Summer Festival Season
IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced the opening of Garner Hotel Edinburgh Haymarket, a new 195-room property in the city’s West End. The hotel launches in partnership with Palm Holdings, a family-owned real estate and hospitality firm.
Located opposite Haymarket Station, the hotel is within easy reach of major attractions, including Edinburgh Castle, the EICC, Murrayfield Stadium, Edinburgh Zoo, and Princes Street. Its launch comes just ahead of Scotland’s busy summer festival season, positioning it as a key midscale offering in a high-demand period.

This is IHG’s first Garner Hotel in Scotland and part of the brand’s growing European footprint. Launched in 2023, Garner is IHG’s midscale conversion brand focused on reliable comfort, quality service, and guest essentials.
Guests can expect modern rooms with plush bedding, black-out blinds, and amenities like 24/7 snacks, grab-and-go breakfasts, and on-site parking. The hotel has partnered with local favourite Platform 5 next door to offer breakfast and exclusive guest discounts.
Rhys Worthington, Business Development Manager, Belhaven, Greene King, said: “Our collaboration with Palm Holdings brings a unique offer to guests, a true taste of Scottish hospitality, backed by Greene King’s pub heritage.”
IHG’s Joanna Kurowska, Managing Director UK & Ireland, said:
“With this new opening, we’re excited to see Garner by IHG arrive in Edinburgh, Scotland’s capital and one of the UK’s most iconic destinations. Garner hotels are built for comfort, value and simplicity. Edinburgh is the perfect fit.”
Community engagement is a key part of the hotel’s launch. For a limited time, £1 from each guest’s stay will be donated to Action Against Hunger.
Ricky Kapoor, Managing Director at Palm Holdings, added:
“We’re proud to open a hotel that doesn’t just welcome guests, it supports local jobs, celebrates Scottish culture, and gives back to the community. One initiative we are running for a limited time is to donate £1 per guest stay to Action Against Hunger, part of our ongoing commitment to positive e social impact. That’s what meaningful hospitality looks like.”
Garner Hotel Edinburgh – Haymarket joins a global portfolio of 23 open Garner hotels and 94 in development. Other upcoming locations include Preston, Rome, Istanbul, and several across the DACH region.
